First post.

What is your current obsession?
Boyfriend blazers, baggy pegged pants with heels, strappy sandals, flowered headbands, extremely skinny white jeans, lived-in tshirts, floral prints, the color gold, sparkly shirts, Victorian-style patterned tights, riding boots, iced half-caf from Dunkin Donuts black with 2 Splenda.  Also there’s a floral jumper from Urban Outfitters that I’m dying to wear but I don’t think it’s very practical.  I like buying things that will last me for a long time.

What is your weirdest obsession?
Short hair, like how Mandy Moore’s was in 2002. Every time I want to go super short, I take a picture of that hair to the salon and say to them “THIS. This is what I want.” Usually I decide to wait until my hair is so long, it gives my hairdresser a heart attack. And usually it’s a total spur-of-the-moment thing that I usually regret about three days later when I wake up and my hair is gone.  The last time I did this, I woke up the next day and immediately missed my hair and it’s only now that it’s the length it was before, and that was two years ago!  Now, I plan on growing my hair out superlong.

What are you wearing today?
A pink shirt I got from the hotel in St. Louis that celebrates the Final Four, and Old Navy boxer shorts.

What’s for dinner?
I’m exhausted, so probably just an Amy Organic’s.

What’s the last thing you bought?
A pair of baggy shorts, a belt, off-white matchstick pants, all from J.Crew. I’m obsessed with their casual yet daring style.

What do you think about the person who tagged you?
I stole this, so I don’t know them! bwahah!

That question about a fully furnished, paid-for house that everyone answers with ‘Paris’ or ‘New York’.
Connecticut. It’s my home. Something built into the woods with a huge back porch (and fire pit!) that I can invite people to make s’mores on.

What are your must-have items for summer?
AC, suntan lotion, tanning gel, J.Crew grosgrain flipflops, sundresses, bing cherries in a bag, watermelon wedges, UTZ pretzels, iced coffees, espadrilles, bikinis, trashy magazines, chick lit, and huge bug sunglasses.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would it be?
Avalon at 4 PM when everyone’s leaving the beach and it gets quiet.

Who do you want to meet right now?
I’ve already met Jen Lancaster and Alice Ripley this year, and so now I’d like to meet Jennifer Weiner. Her characters are so real and true and amazing.

What is your favourite piece of clothing from your own closet?
I have two, one that I wear all the time and one that I’m scared to wear because they’re so ostentatious. The first one is my white buttonless blazer from Urban. I’m kind of obsessed with it. The second are gold sequined pumps by Shoes for Lovely People. They’re amazing and gorgeous and when I wear them I feel like Dorothy, but I haven’t worn them outside of my apartment yet. Not sure what I’m waiting for.

What is your dream job?
It used to be acting, but now I’d love to be a writer full-time.

What’s your favourite magazine?
All of them. Cosmo, Elle, Marie Claire. But I think I like Glamour and Nylon the best.

What do you consider a fashion faux-pas?

Describe your personal style.
All over the place. Sometimes I’m preppy, sometimes I’m vintage, sometimes I’m out of left field. Usually in the summertime I gravitate towards jeans and t-shirts, just that plain casual attitude. I LOVE tank tops, ripped jeans shorts, and sandals. In the fall and winter, I wear shorts with tights and long cardigans with scarves. I’m like Kate Hudson in the summer and Katie Holmes/Mary Kate Olsen in the winter. I also love, love love LOVE high heels. I can’t even tell you how many pairs of heels I own.

What are you going to do after this?
Go to the gym, eat lunch, get ready for work.

Three styling tips that always work for you:
1. Cardigans over everything.
2. If it’s too cold for a cardigan, a blazer works in a pinch.
3. You can never go wrong with rolled up jeans and strappy heels.

What are you proud of?
The fact that I moved here on my own, without really knowing a lot of people here, and within four months have made friends that I know will be a part of me for the rest of my life.

What do you see outside your window?
A rainy yet hot day.  What gives?

What is your favorite color?
Baby pink, gold, red, eggplant, pale green.

What is your weakness?
Any sort of rich-flavored thing. Chocolate, fresh fruit, whipped cream, yogurts, gelato.

What animal would you be?
Mermaid. I know it’s not an animal per se. But that’s my answer.

What would you like to learn how to do?
Ballet dancing.

What do you want to never happen in life?
Die in a plane crash ranks pretty high up there…

What is on your bedside table?
Right now it’s just my lamp, iPod, and phone charger.

What was your favorite children’s book?
Probably The Velveteen Rabbit or Starring Sally J. Friedman As Herself.

What did you want to be as a child?
I actually don’t know what I wanted to be, I just loved to sing and do stupid stuff like that. But I remember I started writing when I was about 6 years old.

What did you dream about last night?
Nothing. At least, I don’t remember.

Which do you prefer, day or night?

What would you like to get your hands on right now?
Hmmm. Not sure, to be honest!

What is your must-have of the moment?
Mascara. I feel naked if I leave the house without it on!

What’s your favorite tea flavor?
Anything with a spice to it. I usually don’t drink tea in the summertime since I prefer it hot. But anything with cinnamon or peppermint is the way to go for me.

What are you looking forward to?
Connie visiting me at the end of the summer, Taylor Swift at Mohegan, a week in Avalon, seeing The Time-Traveler’s Wife and bawling my goddamn eyes out, reading my books on the beach, and finally getting to wear all the fall trends that I’m dying to explore (tights with shorts are back! YES!)

Pick one line of poetry that sums up your mood right now.
This Is Just To Say
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
for breakfast.

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold.
